Ukrainian Beach Wrestling Federation — the official organization developing beach wrestling in Ukraine

Who we are

Ukrainian Beach Wrestling Federation (UBWF) is the official organization governing beach wrestling development in Ukraine.

We are a member of United World Wrestling (UWW) — the international wrestling federation, and support the development of this sport at all levels: from youth clubs to the national team.

UBWF organizes official competitions, awards sports titles, ensures national team participation in international tournaments, and promotes beach wrestling throughout Ukraine.

The first official event in Ukraine
2017
The first official event in Ukraine
On August 2, 2017, the first official beach wrestling tournament in Ukraine was held in Odesa with the support of the Mongoose Sports Club and its president Magomed Magdiev. The competition brought together athletes from 12 regions of Ukraine and representatives of 7 countries, launching the official history of beach wrestling in Ukraine.

Historical gold of Ukraine at the World Championships
On October 13-15, 2017, with the support of Mahomed Magdiev, Ukraine made its debut at the World Beach Wrestling Championships in Turkey. Semen Radulov won the first world championship in beach wrestling in the history of Ukraine.
2018
Establishment of the Federation
On September 18, 2018, a decision was made to establish the Non-Governmental Organization "All-Ukrainian Federation of Beach Wrestling of Ukraine". One of its founders and the first president was Magomed Magdiev, whose name is associated with the beginning of the systematic development of beach wrestling in Ukraine.
2019
Official recognition
In 2019, the Federation was officially recognized as a member of the UWW, having received the status of the only national sports federation authorized to develop and represent beach wrestling in Ukraine. In the same year, in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine dated August 28, 2019 No. 4365, beach wrestling was officially recognized as a sport and entered into the Register of Recognized Sports of Ukraine.

Ukraine is the host of the World Championships
In August 2019, Ukraine for the first time became the host country of two official international UWW events on beach wrestling, which took place in Odesa: on August 9-10 - the stage of the world series (the stage of the world championship among adults), on August 11 - the world championship among U20 and U17. The competition brought together representatives of 12 countries of the world and confirmed the high authority of Ukraine in the international community of UWW.

Triumph at the World Beach Games
In October 2019, at the First World Beach Games in Qatar, beach wrestling became the only medal sport for Ukraine. Among the 33 Ukrainian athletes who competed in 7 sports, all three awards were won by representatives of beach wrestling: silver by Alina Berezhna, bronze by Iryna Pasichnyk and Vasyl Mykhailov.

The first ever championship of Ukraine
On September 13, 2020, the first ever Ukrainian beach wrestling championship among adults, U20 and U17, was held. The competition was held in Odesa region on the basis of the partner of the Federation - the National University "Odesa Law Academy". As a result of the championship, the composition of the national team of Ukraine in beach wrestling was formed for the first time.

The debut season of the national team of Ukraine
2021 was the first season of the national beach wrestling team of Ukraine in its entirety. The team performed at all stages of the world series (stages of the world championship among adults), the debut European championship and the world championship among U20 and U17, which resulted in 24 international medals.

The path that the war did not change
In 2022, despite the full-scale war against Ukraine unleashed by russia, the Federation led by Magdiev made the only possible decision - not to stop. Representing Ukraine in the international arena, winning victories and raising the national flag became the team's mission. The season ended with 8 international medals, including gold of the World Adult Championship.

2023
World's #1 Team
2023 was the starting point for Ukraine as the strongest beach wrestling team in the world. During the season, the national team won 28 medals of the European and world championships among U20 and U17, as well as 8 medals and a victory in the team standings of the world championship among adults. This result launched the uninterrupted global leadership of Ukraine, which continues to this day.

Ukraine - co-organizer of the World Cup in Greece
On September 19-22, 2024, during the full-scale war, on the initiative of Magomed Magdiev, Ukraine for the first time co-organized the U20 and U17 World Championships and the World Series Stage (adult World Championship Stage) in Katerina, Greece. The unprecedented format of international cooperation for Ukrainian sports was extended in 2025 and 2026.

2025
Record-breaking season in history
2025 was a record year in the history of Ukrainian beach wrestling. The national team of Ukraine won 98 international medals, 18 of them at the World Championships, and for the third time in a row confirmed the status of the No.1 team in the world, leading the team standings of the World Championship among adults.

TOP-5 "Discovery of the Year" SBC Ukraine Awards
In 2025, the Federation entered the TOP 5 in the nomination "Discovery of the Year" of the Sport & Business Club Ukraine Awards. The nomination became a professional recognition of the transformation of the Federation into a modern sports brand, which sets a new level of development and popularization of beach wrestling in Ukraine.

The largest championship of Ukraine
The Ukrainian Championship among adults, U20, U17 and U15, held on April 7-9, 2026, became a national sporting event. More than 800 participants from 21 regions of Ukraine, the largest sandy arena in Kyiv, the official selection for the Summer Youth Olympic Games and the general partner - the Traumel Es Gel trademark - set a new standard for holding national beach wrestling competitions.

The first ranks of the ZMSU and ZTU
In 2026, for the first time in the history of beach wrestling in Ukraine, representatives of the sport were awarded the highest sports titles - "Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine" and "Honored Coach of Ukraine". The title was awarded to athletes Kravchenko Anastasia, Kushnir Sofia and Boruta Oleksii, as well as coach Chuev Anton.
2026
Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026
In 2026, beach wrestling is included for the first time in the program of the Summer Youth Olympic Games, which will be held on November 7-8 in Dakar, Senegal. Thanks to the world leadership of the Federation, beach wrestling provided Ukraine with the largest representation at the Games - 5 Olympic quotas.
